THE PILL DIARIES
In the summer of 2021, while the UK was emerging from the isolation and struggles of the pandemic, ‘The Pill Diaries’ was born. Drawing heavily on former years of diary writing, Sheridan began to chart his ongoing journey of mental health recovery and tales of drug withdrawal through writing a weekly blog published online and in a monthly round-up, ‘The Script’.
"Over time 'The Pill Diaries' shifted from being a black box survival record to a relevant zeitgeist journal for modern times"
WHY BLOGGING?
Over this time of publishing ‘The Pill Diaries’, encouraged by the global public response, this blog became a weekly discipline that began to unlock doors to new opportunities in life. Through writing he discovered recovery was never linear, but moved in cycles, allowing deeper reflection, rediscovery, and realignment, and over time shifted from being a black box survival record to a relevant zeitgeist journal for modern times.
A JOURNEY OF RECOVERY
Four years on, ‘The Pill Diaries’ continues to illustrate that writing for mental health recovery can be a therapeutic tool, achievable through discipline and dedication. While you can’t rewrite the past, you can edit the present, and even journal your way towards a better life in the future. A future beyond flight and flight or survival mode. Writing for recovery is ultimately all about the journey, and not necessarily the destination.
